This is the Leatherman Surge retailed at $89.99 It's a very useful knife. It has a very nice reputation and it's one of Leatherman's best multi-tools according to Leatherman and myself. I have alot of prior knowledge with Leatherman Multi-Tools and this is among the best. I love the durability, rust-proof , stainless steel handles, exchangable bits and saw/file, and the nice nylon sheath with the option of a leather sheath. All around I would give this Leatherman multi-tool a 9 out of 10. I love this knife for just about every kind of use. There are, however, a few negative things about this multi-tool (the key word is few) IE It is very heavy, weighing in at 12.6 Oz with the sheath (nylon) and 11.7 Oz without the sheath. Another small negative comment about the Leatherman Surge is the size, the sheath, witch is close to the size of the multi-tool, is 3 inches across and 5 1/2 inches tall. I bought this knife for $82.00 at Al's ArmyNavy Store on French Ave. in Sanford Florida.

The Gerber Clutch multi-tool (MT) proves that mini tools dont have to be expensive to be useful. It possesses most of the utility had by larger tools, albeit with reduced leverage. In the Clutch you can find needle nosed pliers, wire cutters, a well-shaped blade, two-dimensional drivers, tweezers, and a nail maintenance tool. Another bonus over some competitors, like the Leatherman Squirt P4, is a conventionally ground and larger blade that could fill many of your EDC roles. Possible downsides would include: a bit larger size and more weight than the P4 MT (the mini MT class leader I think) and the smallest flathead screw bit needed some grinding for additional precision. We all know that multi tools are very useful and give us a lot of options. We also know that Leatherman are the industry leaders when it comes to innovation and overall practicality especially with their extras like the bit kit, removable bit driver etc. Another product that Leatherman sell it the Bit Extension which fits into the Leatherman bit driver found on the Wave, Charge and Surge. This is a nice product as it gives you added capability and allows you to fit standard bits into your system. However for 1/3 the cost you can make you own and have the bits to go along with it. I to the magnetic bit holder that comes with these bits and using my bench grinder I was able to trim down the metal until it fitted into the Leatherman bit driver. Now I have added reach and the use of full size bits integrated into my system. A great addition to any mobile tool kit. The multi tools used for demonstration was the Charge Ti and Super Tool 300.

A security breach test was conducted to test the ease and difficulty of getting items banned by the TSA onboard an aircraft at LAX. It is a pant lining technique that I won't disclose the details of due to security reasons. Through this test, I was able to successfully do the following: bring on board a small keychain knife conntected to my keys bring on board a leatherman kick multi-tool with a 3" fold out knife bring on board an x26c civilian model taser with 15ft taser cartridge was able to successfully unbuckle my seat-belt while the seat-belt light was on Something must be done here O_O :P

For my lake trip this weekend it was flip flops and swimming trunks. I really didn't want to carry around my expensive Leatherman Wave or a big knife. So I went with a keychain EDC setup. This way, I had all the items I would need and they wouldn't get lost, but they still take up very little space.

Maxpediton Single Sheath is a great multi-tool friend, I originally bought this as a sheath for my Leatherman Wave, but it also fit the Gerber Flik, Leatherman Charge ALX, Vicotorinox Soldier. It can be carried vertical or horizontal. I choose the foliage green colour which have a grey look about it but I like it very much

Gerber Vise key chain Multi tool, I picked this up from Amazon UK for £13.99 in a twin pack with the Gerber splice. Its a nice tool however in comparison to Leatherman there are some quality issues.

Ce Leatherman Charge XTi est livré avec la housse en cuir, l'anneau amovible, le clip de ceinture amovible et une plaquette d'embouts tronqués. Ti comme titane, le métal constituant les manches. Difficile de faire mieux que ce multioutil et s'il ya un problème, il est garanti 25 ans ! J'ai d'ailleurs usé de la garantie une fois sur mon modèle neuf car une des deux butées verticales internes qui permettent à la pince de coulisser pour se fermer lors du repliement des manches s'était pliée puis s'était cassée : une grossière erreur de conception; mon Charge m'est revenu réparé mais les deux butées se sont de nouveau légèrement pliées; pourvu qu'elles tiennent ! J'ai pu voir sur une vidéo de Youtube que sur le modèle Charge TTi, les butées avaient été épaissies, renforcées, donc plus de risque de pliage et de cassure. Dito pour les Charge AL et ALX ? Un autre bémol, le deuxième porte-embout de vissage (pour embouts larges), manifestement inutile (genre « J'ai oublié ma plaquette d'embouts ! »), aurait pu être intelligemment remplacé par un poinçon-alésoir et un ciseau (l'outil porte-embout a la largeur de deux outils). Le porte-embout pour douille de vissage standard est à acheter à part. Le couteau lisse, on ne voit pas bien l'inscription sur la vidéo, est en acier 154 CM. Attention : j'ai oublié de vous montrer que le multioutil possède aussi un anneau non amovible, en sus de l'amovible, mais rétractable, lequel est caché au bout du manche qui contient les deux porte ...
